Requirements & Incentives

The Free Economic Zones are regulated by Curacao’s Economic Zone Law.

This grants incentives under certain requirements. Below is an overview of the requirements and incentives applicable for operations in both the Curaçao Harbor Free Economic Zone and the Curaçao Airport Free Economic Zone.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 75% of the e-zone’s company annual turnover must be obtained from export. Local market sales are allowed up to a maximum of 25% of the E-zone company’s annual total turnover. Regular import duties and sales tax rates are applicable, while a permit is required to sell goods to the local market.
     
  • For every 1800 square feet (170 square meters) of space occupied, a minimum of one job must be created.
     
  • Submit an application form for establishment of a limited liability company under local law, dedicated exclusively to the economic zone business.
     
  • Local business/director's license.
     
  • Work/residence permit.
  • Long lease land contracts require a feasibility study.
     
  • Economic zone license.

Incentives:

  • 0% Import duties.
  • 0% Turnover tax.
  • No land and property taxes.
